Residing in beautiful East Gippsland has provided Rhonda with a world of inspiration.

Rhonda has been painting and drawing for as long as she can remember, completing extensive studies in painting, drawing and sculpture and achieving a Diploma of Visual Arts. She also added ‘Plein Air’ to her skill set while travelling and studying in Europe.

Her motivation to create works simply comes from the love of it. Rhonda’s paintings are created slowly and thoughtfully; and she still marvels at how they evolve. Rhonda aims to engage the viewer by combining her realistic practice with her fluency in contemporary techniques.

Her current works are a combination of realism and contemporary fantasy. Rhonda finds it vital as an artist to experience what she paints, to get to know the subject. This is where her artistic process begins.

The development of creating brings much personal fulfilment. Preferring to work on linen most of her works are underpainted in red or gold to warm the subject and create an under glow. Pieces are then painted using traditional techniques.

For Rhonda there is never enough time for art – she believes you simply have to make time and come to terms with the fact that the dishes may still be in the sink in the morning.

Rhonda’s artwork has featured in joint and solo exhibitions. She has received many awards for her work, including the prestigious art prize for Best Contemporary painting at the Camberwell Art Show in Melbourne. As an artist Rhonda has appeared in a range of media including the international television series ‘Colour In Your Life’. Rhonda’s work is in numerous public and private collections.

Rhonda keenly passes on her passion and knowledge through teaching, offering regular drawing, mixed media and painting classes and workshops locally, interstate and overseas.
